Thomas & Aimee’s wedding was the PERFECT wedding to end off 2014 – it was a photographer’s dream day to capture and I adore this couple to bits. They were obviously made for each other – they complement each other in every way possible and were such amazing people to work with. They said their vows on the 14th of December 2014 in the most beautiful town, Tzaneen, in Limpopo. Their decor was filled with personal touches – because they live in Rotterdam in the Netherlands together and this means lots of travelling by bicycles, they also brought in a subtle bicycle theme on their wedding day. They kept their guests to the minimum, which ensured an intimate and festive feel and Kings Walden Garden Manor was the perfect venue to host their celebration. There are so many things that I love about their wedding (the gin bar for example is such a great idea!), so instead of listing them, I’ll just trust the photos to tell the story 🙂

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Thomas: “My first look at Aimee – I tried very hard not to cry as we were just about to take photos. Our sunset cocktail party and the gin bar we put together including an awesome cheese tower my father assembled for us. I loved how we had a full dance floor until the last song! Our welcome party the night before even though it was a wash out was a highlight for me – we got to spend some quality time with our family and friends who we don’t see often and they also got to know each other before the wedding day.”

Aimee: “I loved our ceremony down by the pond – it was so special and sentimental. I hadn’t put much thought into it during the wedding planning but it came together so beautifully. We closed the dance floor by singing and dancing our hearts out to my favourite song Bohemian Rhapsody. Finishing the night off by making wishes on shooting stars under the beautiful Kings Walden Tree with my new husband.”

How would you describe your wedding theme & why did you decide on this theme?

“A romantic garden party with a subtle bicycle theme. As we live in the Netherlands our bicycles are a big part of our daily lives and we thought it would be fun to incorporate these into our wedding. Our venue is such a beautiful place that I wanted our decor to be very natural so as not to detract from this.”

Do you have any tips/advice for our future brides and grooms?

Thomas: “Get involved in the planning of the day with your fiance. Find an element that interests you and enjoy it. For me that was the food and drinks. As I had contributed to the day I really enjoyed it that much more. Trust people to come through on what they have agreed to do (provided you have delegated properly!) – there is no need to stress! Don’t worry too much about your speech, I am not the greatest public speaker but the emotion and sincerity of the day made it very easy to express how I felt without much preparation. Just have a list of who you would like to thank on hand!”

Aimee: “Don’t feel afraid to put together a day that is exactly how you want it. You don’t have to follow every wedding tradition if you don’t want to. It is completely your day! It is also never too early to start planning to ensure that the week/day of the wedding can be spent enjoying the time with your family and friends that you don’t often see.”

Is there anything else you would like to add?

“Our wedding would not have been as amazing as it was if it was not for our family and friends that helped us put it together. Planning a wedding from far away is never easy but the help we received before the wedding and on the day from our family and friends was fantastic. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to them! Also, thank you Iz and G! Your professionalism and calm demeanour which really helped to put us at ease. We were so comfortable when taking photos with you both. Thank you for travelling through to Tzaneen and being a part of our day!”
