Izelle & Fred are one of those couples that I bonded really well with (not just because the bride and I share the same name, hehe) – I looked forward to their wedding since the moment I met them; it was obvious it would be an amazing day. They were so great to work with during their engagement couple photoshoot (see their botanical garden engagement session here) and their wedding day was even more fun with the stunning touches to their decor and their beautiful wedding venue. They said their vows on the 22nd of February 2014 at The Nutcracker Country Retreat and Wedding Venue in Parys, Free State.

One thing that really stands out for me on their wedding day was the cheerful ambience thanks to their guests and family – it’s always beautiful to see the families of a newly married couple embracing each other with open arms and the heartfelt and funny speeches shared on their day (it was quite hilarious when one of the guests acted as a fake sign language interpreter during Fred’s speech) – it truly was a fairytale wedding for two beautiful people that are so obviously each other’s soulmates :)

How did you meet/How did the proposal happen?

“Izelle and Fred met in 2009. After both studying in Bloemfontein for five years, and never meeting, Izelle started to work in Potchefstroom and Fred in Parys in 2009. Izelle’s cousin and Fred have been best friends since school and they started a business in Parys. Izelle went to visit Ross often and so met Fred. After months of friendship, they ended up becoming a couple. Enjoying a wonderful relationship for three and a half years, Fred proposed to Izelle on 16 March 2013. It happened that after a very busy few months, they decided to go away for a weekend to rest in the Magaliesberg, Izelle totally oblivious of Fred’s plans. After a fun day of exploring the area Fred proposed on one knee next to the river, under the trees, after singing and playing on the guitar a song he composed for the occasion. She said ‘YES’!!!!”

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Fred: “When I saw Izelle for the first time in the chapel. She was so very beautiful.”

Izelle: “Every part was my favorite part. First having the privilege of having my dad walk me down the isle, and once again realizing that I truly have the best parents in the entire world. And when walking into the chapel seeing there the man I love waiting for me, wanting to spend our entire lives together. The love and excitement of the family and friends that shared this day with us, totally overwhelmed me and I so enjoyed spending a little bit of time with all of them. Seeing all my friends from far away and near, and realizing that golden friendships never die. Seeing the reception hall for the first time and it is a true fairytale scene, thank you Mommy. So many people went to so much trouble to make this the best day of our lives, and they truly succeeded. I looooooooovvvvvveeeed my wedding and the whole day will always be one of my most precious memories.”

How would you describe your wedding theme?

“Colourful Retro.”

Do you have any tips/advice for our future brides and grooms?

“Just enjoy every single moment, it is truly the best time of your life!!!”

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Weilbach!!!! xx
