MR & MRS SMITH |luiperdskloof bronkhorstspruit elopement weddingJanuary 20, 2014

posted in Elopement, Real Weddings

I’ve always been eager to cover an elopement, so when Jay & Irma contacted me about their small elopement-wedding, at Luiperdskloof Game Lodge in Bronkhorstpruit on the 9th of November 2013, I was beyond excited – and it was everything I thought it would be! Their wedding day was unpretentious & intimate and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of it. Mr & Mrs Smith both looked amazing – I just adore Irma’s dress with it’s off-white ribbon! Bronkhorstspruit is a very picturesque venue and offered lovely backdrops for the photos.

How did the proposal happen?

Irma: “Jay proposed on the 5th of July 2013 in the Lesotho snow. Jay had planned the proposal for more than 6 months checking weather and making sure that it will snow on the particular day. With all the obstacles I almost missed the trip as I was travelling for work and our return date had been postponed twice. I also almost missed my flight back. He still made it very special and not everyone can say they got engaged in the snow!”

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Jay: “When I saw my bride coming down the aisle.”

Irma: “I enjoyed our whole weekend. With the quarrels, the stress and everything else.”

Do you have any tips/advice for our future brides and grooms?

“Do what YOU want to do. Make the planning a joined effort. It’s good practice to work as a team.”

Is there anything else you would like to add?

“Our day was VERY special even though it was super small. Thank you for everyone that played a tremendous part in this and to our families for understanding and granting our wishes to keep it so small. Thank you to you guys who made us feel so comfortable and making the photo’s beautiful even though neither of us are natural models.”

Thank you, Jay & Irma, for letting us be a part of your beautiful day!
