MR & MRS GREEFF |klip river vereeniging weddingJanuary 29, 2014

posted in Real Weddings

Gerhardus & Antoinette said their “I do’s” on the 29th of November 2013 at Klip River, a gorgeous venue in Vereeniging. The venue has so many beautiful photo locations and I would like to thank the staff for being so helpful – they assisted us with every part of the newlywed session and I can with all honesty say I’ve never received so much help from a venue’s staff before. Antoinette & Gerhardus are the perfect match. They go together like bread and butter! Their fun, down-to-earth personalities made the whole day a blast and I loved all the giggles they shared together. Also, I know I always say this, but I LOVED Antoinette’s wedding dress – that heart-shape detail on the back is stunning. They both looked fantastic! I also adore all the unique touches to their wedding day, for example the paper planes that were used for confetti and of course the lovely E. E. Cummings poem that they framed and hung outside the reception venue. It did start raining right after the ceremony, but fortunately it cleared up a bit and we were able to take all the shots we needed outside in Klip River’s magnificent gardens.

How did you meet / How did the proposal happen?

Antoinette: “Gerhardus was part of my sister’s group of friends, so we knew about each other, but did not know each other. He invited them to new years in Kleinmond, Cape Town in 2010/2011 and I asked to tag along. Upon arrival in Cape Town, my purse with all my money, bankcards, ID and licence got stolen. Stranded in Cape Town without any money, Gerhardus and friends decided that it was a great idea to have a braai with some wine, just to forget about my misfortune for the day. The flirting started that night; we had our first kiss on 1 January 2011 at 00:05. So in a nutshell, a new years’ fling that never ended! I accompanied Gerhardus when he bought the ring in November 2012, so I knew that a proposal was on its way. We flew down to Kleinmond for the December holiday, and in his hand luggage I spotted the ring. He tortured me tremendously. We would walk on the beach and he would go down on one knee, just to pick up a shell; we would sit in a restaurant and he would make as though he is taking the ring box out of his pocket. I almost went crazy. Then, on Christmas eve, we went for a walk and Gerhardus took me to a bench that is situated on the rocks beside the sea. Looking out on the waves, he again faked taking out the ring box from his pocket. I said, that’s it, I don’t want a proposal anymore. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, with the ring this time, and he asked if I would marry him, and off course I said ‘yes!'”

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Antoinette: “Everything was absolutely amazing, but the most memorable was walking down the aisle towards Gerhardus and our first dance!!”

How would you describe your wedding theme?

Antoinette: “We decided on the colours and then planned from there. We didn’t really have a definite theme.”

Do you have any tips/advice for our future brides and grooms?

Antoinette: “Google, google and google or ask around with friends and family. One can find amazing ideas and specials from the most unlikely places. (But stop at some point – if Gerhardus didn’t stop me, I would still be adding elements to our big day, lol). Don’t sweat the small stuff; there will be things that don’t go 100% according to plan, but in the end it all seems to fall in place and works out as it should.”

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Antoinette: “Try and take in as much as possible, the day goes by too quickly. And make sure you get some desert; you’ll regret not having done so in the morning!”

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Greeff!! 🙂
